PROMPT: Top 10 Travel

Daily writing prompt
What are your top 10 travel destinations?

I am not sure whether this is meant to be aspirational, by frequency, or by the appeal of the place. I’m also not sure what level of granularity to use. So, I will arbitrarily go with the countries (and things that quack like a country) that I’ve most enjoyed traveling in, placed in no particular order: – Taiwan; – Vietnam; – India; – Peru; – United States; – Kenya; – Georgia (Republic of); – Thailand; – Korea; and Kyrgyzstan.

NOTE: This list is not stable, and I hope to add and knock off some in the near future.

One can be knowledgeable with other men’s knowledge,
but one cannot be wise with other men’s wisdom.

Michel de montaigne

Nothing is lost if one has the courage to proclaim that all is lost and one must begin anew.

Julio Cortázar

Experience is not what happens to you,
it’s what you do with what happens to you.

Aldous Huxley

Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal.

T.s. Eliot

If we do not possess a ‘sense’ for a given energy -form,
we do not experience its existence.

Robert E. Ornstein in The psychology of consciousness [As quoted in the Bihar School edition of Hatha Yoga Pradipika]

PROMPT: Favorite Quote

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite quote?

I don’t think I have a favorite quote, devoid of context, but as I’ve been thinking about travel at the moment, the following comes to mind:

If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion, and avoid the people, you might better stay home.

James A. Michener

PROMPT: Life-Changing Tip

Daily writing prompt
If you had to give one life-changing tip, what would it be?

Recognize that your experience of the world is not the world, itself. You have tremendous (potentially complete) control over the former, but virtually no control over the latter. #SakshiBhava
