PROMPT: Procrastination

What have you been putting off doing? Why?

Answering this prompt, apparently. It’s been around several times now – I think.

Why? No good answer came to mind, before now.

Cannonball Tree [Haiku]

the cannonball tree:
blooms bright & intricate,
but never delicate.

Bonsai [Haiku]

a bonsai tree:
gnarled & twisted,
yet so strong.

“A Bird, came down the Walk” (359) by Emily Dickinson [w/ Audio]

A Bird, came down the Walk --
He did not know I saw --
He bit an Angle Worm in halves
And ate the fellow, raw,

And then, he drank a Dew
From a convenient Grass--
And then hopped sidewise to the Wall
To let a Beetle pass --

He glanced with rapid eyes,
That hurried all abroad --
They looked like frightened Beads, I thought,
He stirred his Velvet Head. --

Like one in danger, Cautious,
I offered him a Crumb,
And he unrolled his feathers,
And rowed him softer Home --

Than Oars divide the Ocean,
Too silver for a seam,
Or Butterflies, off Banks of Noon,
Leap, plashless as they swim.

the unwitting egret’s back:
unfond of flatmate?

“The Pond” by Amy Lowell [w/ Audio]

Cold, wet leaves
Floating on moss-coloured water
And the croaking of frogs --
Cracked bell-notes in the twilight.

PROMPT: Attention

What details of your life could you pay more attention to?

When I chop carrots, I should chop carrots; when I walk in the park, I should walk in the park; when I poop, I should poop.

PROMPT: Hard Work

In what ways does hard work make you feel fulfilled?

Presuming there is a product or productive outcome, therein lies the fulfillment.

If the work is Sisyphean, it chafes my preference for wu wei.
