As in Hokusai’s Great Wave,
I watch waves roll over,
before a volcanic cone.
Though these waves are
small & close,
they are perfectly rounded.
And though the distant volcano
looms large over the shore waves,
it has perfect symmetry.
I feel the roundness
&
simultaneous devastating power
of both elements at once.
prayer flags hang still. i hear them go silent as i sit - eyes closed
the mountain looks like a boulder, looks like a rock,...
the river sounds; its murmur is all that's heard... until the cowbells
a snowy peak shows - briefly - in the morning, then hides in the clouds
in summer, the tarn looks like greenish concrete, then settles to teal glass
