What have you been putting off doing? Why?
I’m putting off death for as long as I can remain healthy (by and large.) Because I like living.
What have you been putting off doing? Why?
I’m putting off death for as long as I can remain healthy (by and large.) Because I like living.
How often do you walk or run?
Daily. I don’t live in an aquarium (thus allowing swimming as the predominant mode of transport,) nor am I a potted plant that stays where I’m set. Also, flying is out of the question, except in an airplane.
Long For This World: The Strange Science of Immortality by Jonathan WeinerNurse. I think it takes a tremendous level of humility and compassion. Also, I suspect it may be among the last handful of human jobs (as we know them now) to still exist once AI-robots start doing pretty much all productive tasks better, faster, and more efficiently than humans. I think long after our doctors are machines, we will have human nurses.
Move my body. Eat my veggies. Feel gratitude regularly. Do not stick my hand down the garbage disposal. Surrender to my ignorance.
Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art by James NestorMoving through the Great Spontaneous,
Blender blades barely missing --
In fact, sometimes nicking.
The accumulation of those nicks
Is aging.
It takes an ever-defter dance to keep
The damage buildup to a constant pace --
Not letting it blitz one,
Or pull one into the turbine:
Like a goose through
The turbofans of a 787.
A goose may kill a plane,
But becomes dust in the process.
When one surrenders to the choppers
One will not have the satisfaction
Of killing the vehicle,
Of bringing it all down.
The Universe will go on,
And one's molecules will become
Something new.
