two wading birds
 face each other so that
  their reflections can chat.

mountain hermit
 looks over the city…
  turns, walks back to hut.

tree that sprawls
 twists & winds chaotically:
  strength from crazy

horde of livestock 
 sprawls puddle-strewn lane
  between downpours.

snail stretches
 to view the beautiful house -
  too close to see.

three lil kittens
 rotate through one-on-one 
  combat — tag-team style.

wild poppies
 take my mind to a tragic
  poem learned in youth.

dogs have gathered
 in military formation;
  humans are nervous.

 crowd around where the frog
  plopped into pond.
