Worst: Hippopotami, African Elephants, the Black Mamba, Right Whales, Pumas, Condors, Puffer Fish, Howler Monkeys, Rhinoceroses, Hammerhead Sharks, Lowland Gorillas, Geese, Cape Buffalo, Galapagos Tortoise, Bengal Tigers, Pronghorn Antelope… , and anything else that some jackass builds a house-sized chain-link fence cage in his backyard to “keep.”
On a pleasant mid-Spring day,
A bird landed -- no bounce or sway.
It perched, chirping - as if in play:
I blinked, and it'd flown away.
ring of blossoms
around the tree trunk:
still, as shadows creep.
heron & reflection drift apart
until one of them vanishes.
deep autumn blue;
a harvested field,
alive with crickets.
crops hide the farmhouse,
but can't conceal distant mountains.
pink blossom drops
in still morning air
beside a quiet lake.
narrow channel,
waving reeds on each side,
boat glides blindly through.
spherical blooms,
arrayed like planets,
bees zip through.
