The Way [Haiku]

from shady to sunny side,
where caves line the path.

PROMPT: Differently

What could you do differently?

Literally, everything. That’s the gift and curse of being human.

Sunrise / Sunset [Haiku]

sunset or sunrise?
depends upon where
your gaze lies.

“The Arrow and the Song” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow [w/ Audio]

I shot an arrow into the air,
 It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
 Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
 It fell to earth, I knew not where:
For who has sight so keen and strong,
 That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
 I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
 I found again in the heart of a friend.

PROMPT: Billboard

If you had a freeway billboard, what would it say?

“If you think there’s a Hell, you’re already there.”

I think it works on two levels… at least.

PROMPT: Future Past

Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

I spend the most time trying to figure out how to live mostly in the present. The past is dead and the future is unknowable, so I might as well settle into this moment.

PROMPT: Gift

What is the greatest gift someone could give you?

A better understanding of the world or how I can best operate within it.
