to finish before life runs out.

the river widens,
slows / stopping, in places;
so goes my mind.
Looking like a masked bandito,
Raccoon dunks expired burrito.
It dips it not to get it clean
but to flavor it: Swamp Latrine.
the grain is ripe.
the days are short.
the farmer, weary.
In Winter,
when blue sky shows
between the twiggy,
bare branches,
the forest is not so
claustrophobic,
but sound and wind,
alike,
carry through.
A mind can roam
between the bracing
breezes.
little green sprouts,
the only verdant hue:
barren Winter woods.
Skittish is the Great Blue Heron.
It feels when you're stopped and starin'
and will crisscross water like Charon
to keep you on the other side.
