Three Takes on a Lotus Haiku

I
lotus viewing:
still blossom, changing light;
countless sights
II
a still lotus,
a static eye, and shifting
light; boundless hues
III
view one lotus
until the changing light
makes a new bloom

POEM: Ripples & Stillness

ripples expand
from some unseen center
where a fish feeds,
and when stillness returns
i welcome its short life

DAILY PHOTO: Rocky River, The Tungabhadra

Taken at Hampi in November of 2013

POEM: Evergreens

Evergreens line the trail,
transporting me to a place --
higher and harder --
where one might expect trees
that refuse to yield for seasons.

DAILY PHOTO: Havelock Island Feathered Sunrise

Taken in December of 2018 on Havelock Island (a.k.a. Swaraj Island)

POEM: Pale Skies

bleached in bright sunshine --
thin, wispy white clouds
are barely seen
amid the washed out skies

some summer day --
sending one running
for sunglasses
to avoid a blinding headache

it seems the world
might fade into a
tabula rasa, or
blanch anemically
