Mountain Azalea [Lyric Poem]

Photograph of a cluster of pink Mountain Azalea with barren woods in the background. Taken on the Sawnee Mountain Trail in North Georgia.
One cluster of Mountain Azalea
Stands out like royal regalia,
Adorning a near naked vagrant --
But much more pleasingly fragrant.

First Blossom [Haiku]

petal flutters down
from clustered Cherry Blossoms;
is it the first?

Blossom Blush [Haiku]

white blossom clusters —
Cherry trees of Early Spring:
some blooms blush, some not.

Yellow Blossom [Haiku]

yellow blossoms
herald the Spring:
fragrance spreads the news.

Dog-Rose [Haiku]

lone Dog-rose bloom
sways in a Spring breeze,
lulling into trance.

Hangers On [Haiku]

trunk ringed by fallen blooms,
only the pate contains hangers-on.

Claustrophobic [Haiku]

carpenter bee
crawls into clock vine bloom;
freefalls into flight.

“The Blossom” by William Blake [w/ Audio]

Merry, Merry Sparrow!
Under leaves so green
A happy Blossom
Sees you swift as arrow
Seek your cradle narrow
Near my Bosom.

Pretty, Pretty Robin!
Under leaves so green
A happy Blossom
Hears you sobbing, sobbing,
Pretty, Pretty Robin,
Near my bosom.

Quiet [Haiku]

pink blossom drops
in still morning air
beside a quiet lake.

Golden Hour [Haiku]

sunup hour:
yellow blossoms turn gold;
one flutters to earth.
