Understory [Haiku]

understory thrives:
light plants & shadow plants
each finds its place.

“The Snow Man” by Wallace Stevens [w/ Audio]

One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;

And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter

Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the sound of a few leaves,

Which is the sound of the land
Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place

For the listener, who listens in the snow,
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.

Cherry [Haiku]

vibrant red orbs
grow in dense clusters --
undisturbed, for now!

Spring Stream [Haiku]

willow-lined stream
swells with a rush of
Spring white water.

Foul Wind [Lyric]

Trees are wagging,
Whipping, and waving
That were still but
A moment ago.
Dark clouds snuck in
With pattering rain,
But, oh, how those
Foul winds do blow!

City Winter [Haiku]

trees, straight & bare,
line the boulevard. one leaf
blows across the walk.

Stand Strong [Haiku]

overflown banks:
trees stand strong
against the flow.

White Columns [Haiku]

white columns
rise from a mountain lake:
once mighty pines.

“The Blossom” by William Blake [w/ Audio]

Merry, Merry Sparrow!
Under leaves so green
A happy Blossom
Sees you swift as arrow
Seek your cradle narrow
Near my Bosom.

Pretty, Pretty Robin!
Under leaves so green
A happy Blossom
Hears you sobbing, sobbing,
Pretty, Pretty Robin,
Near my bosom.
