Tree Flight [Free Verse]

On a hike,
I come upon a tree
Raised up on its roots,
As if in mid-stride --
A long, cartoonish stride
That stretches across the trail.

But the tree doesn't stir --
No matter how quietly I wait;
No matter how long I wait.

Oh, how I wish to catch the tree
As it flees.

Just the Tips [Senryū]

high mountains:
sunrise hits snowcaps only;
in darkness & don't know it.

Anyone Home? [Lyric Poem]

I came across a turbinate shell
While walking forest, glade, and dell.
With fingernail, I gave a tap
To learn if its tenant was in nap.

PROMPT: Cross-Country

Daily writing prompt
You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?

All of the above. Any of the above. And don’t forget “feet.” (A more specific answer requires knowing what country is being crossed. The plan of attack for crossing Singapore is much different than for crossing Russia.)

PROMPT: Ideal Day

Daily writing prompt
Describe your most ideal day from beginning to end.

Hiking in the mountains (at most, low- to mid-VHE [Very High Elevation].) Wake at sunrise, walk, pitch camp before sunset.
