PROMPT: Question
What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.
“Tell me about yourself.”
It’s my least comfortable topic to speak about. Plus, it’s directionless, and not so much a question as a command.
PROMPT: Opening Sentence
You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?
“From humble beginnings would come humbling ends.”
PROMPT: Objects / Can’t Live Without
I’ll need some sort of container capable of holding water, some variety of pointy stick, and something sharp like knapped flint or a length of hard metal.
PROMPT: Fate / Destiny
Do you believe in fate/destiny?
No. Life would be hard to bear if one believed one were just playing out a program, and was not a free agent.
That said, I can’t say I have enough information to have a strong belief in the opposite (i.e. free will.)
So, like a number of other big philosophical questions, it is one for which I prefer ignorance over delusion.
PROMPT: Ban
If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?
I would ban the word ban because banning is not a thing that should exist. It is not an impulse one should have.
PROMPT: Challenge
What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?
I couldn’t possibly say. I make no claims to clairvoyance. Life happens. Sometimes the complicated things go smoothly and the simple things frustrate.
PROMPT: Advice
Eat more veggies, mind your joints, beauty is everywhere, all is impermanence, and very few things in life actually matter (see item 4.)
PROMPT: Boredom
What bores you?
I believe boredom is the product of a weak mind.
There’s always something noteworthy happening. It just sometimes takes more mental energy and broadened interests to experience it.
PROMPT: Drink
What is your favorite drink?
If amount consumed is any indication, that would have to be water – with coffee as a second runner up. And the rest of the pack is a muddled mess in which no one stands out, judging from the fact that the aforementioned are the only beverages that I drink on a daily basis. (Gin or beer are at most once a week beverages and average less than that, if this was meant to imply alcoholic drinks.)
Certainly, water is the only one that I: a.) can’t do without, and b.) could live a comfortable and healthy life drinking exclusively.
