Morning Mystery [Haiku]

winter day dawn:
single set of boot-prints
in fresh fallen snow.

Winter Rooster [Senryū]

winter morn:
rooster starts crowing
way too early.

The Avian Unseen [Haiku]

sunup:
roosters crow, birds chirp -
all unseen.

Fire, Short-lived [Haiku]

overcast dawn:
cloud edges burn... briefly,
then cool to gray.

“Spring Dawn” (春曉) by Meng Haoran [w/ Audio]

My Spring sleep is unswayed by dawn --
Though birds are heard through screen, still drawn.
Recalling night sounds of rain and wind,
I wonder how the flowers have thinned?

Original in Chinese:

春眠不覺曉,
處處聞啼鳥。
夜來風雨聲,
花落知多少。

Morning Glow [Haiku]

a bloom falls to earth;
lit up by the morning sun,
it glows… for a time.

Rise & Shine [Haiku]

canna lily blooms
catch the light of sunrise as
stems sleep in the shade.

Summer Sunrise [Haiku]

summer sun
rises over the lake.
somewhere, church bells chime.

Lone Fisherman [Haiku]

one fisherman,
boat undulating on the
lake at sunrise.

Bristling [Haiku]

leaves have dropped;
reflected sun viewed twixt
bristled seedpod clusters.
