the black sand beach
 is no less pristine, but 
  the mind feels it is.

 in the koi pond; then:
  a tail whip splash

a rotten log
 lies in the woods,
  becoming fungi

up on the cliff,
 i see stones & sea urchins,
  unseen from the beach

slender, sinuous
 tongues of willow leaf
  droop at river's edge.

autumn colors,
 like a pointillist painting
  that'll break bleak.

circling the city,
 the spire clusters change;
  the skyline morphs

from the forest hill,
 the city seems hazy.
  in the city, same.
