Gaur [Lyric Poem]

Photograph of a Gaur taken at the Mysore Zoo in Karnataka, India.
Let me introduce the Gaur.
It's a cow, but superpowered.

It's made of thick slabs of muscle,
And I wouldn't suggest you tussle.
They aren't cattle you can rustle,
That is, unless - in point of fact --
You're eager to be rustled back.

Secondary Feeders [Haiku]

after harvest
cows stubble graze, &
egrets hunt in the wake.

Empty Pasture [Haiku]

in woods' shade,
cattle sit or stand, &
file barn-ward at dusk.

Cow Camo [Senryū]

cow camouflage:
sitting in tall grass, stilly —
unsuccessful.

Ruins [Senryū]

a cow grazes
on a plinth once reserved
for priests & kings.

Purple Cow by Gelett Burgess [w/ Audio]

I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one,
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one.

Bovine Brothers? [Senryū]

bovine brothers?
or twins? or maybe I'm just
  seeing double?

Lazy Cowbell [Haiku]

bovines graze
 in desiccated pastures:
  lazy cowbell.

Cowbell [Haiku]

the cow barely moves,
and yet its clang is constant
from tugging dry grass
