Buffalo [Lyric Poem]

Never punch a Buffalo!
They may seem dim and kind of slow,
But they hold a grudge to the last,
And - besides - you're not exactly fast!

PROMPT: Road Trip

Bloganuary writing prompt
Think back on your most memorable road trip.

Through Michigan, across southeast Ontario (visiting Toronto,) back into the US at Niagra Falls, and back around to the start via Upstate New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

Memorable because it was probably my first purposeless road trip of a significant distance (as an adult and as a driver.)

Lazy Cowbell [Haiku]

bovines graze
 in desiccated pastures:
  lazy cowbell.

Buffalo Horn Limerick

There was a funny buffalo named Stitches
whose horns bent back like malformed glitches.
"Some horns are for goring
and others for warring,
but mine are for inaccessible itches."

Grazing Buffalo [Haiku]

beside the river
with aimless purpose

POEM: Bad Reputation

Hey there, Mister Buffalo,

They say you’re mean, but I don’t know.

As far as I’m able to tell,

under the joylessness you’re really swell.

Your persona has been besmirched

by men who shot you from a perch,

and had to follow you, wounded, into the tall grass.
