leaf litter -
amid shades of brown,
a fleck of green

snow accrues
on a marble headstone -
silently

deep in the woods,
a weather-beaten cabin
slants slightly

barren savannah.
a hyena mommy 
strides through

red leaves,
lit by the late-day sun,
flare orange

wet yellow leaves
stuck to a rain-slick headstone,
and i'm in a land
not of tropical monsoons,
but which knows autumn

rocky shoulders
peek out from behind green hills
in a ghostly haze

cloud reflections
open a mirror world
in the moat

banyan trees
drop roots to the road,
in search of dirt
