Among the unexpected sights of Bangkok is this Monitor Lizard of about 4 foot long from the tips of its forked-tongue to the tip of its tail. It was right in the center of Saranrom Park which is across the street from the Grand Palace and Wat Pho in Bangkok’s old town.

Taken at the Cochin Shwetambar Murthipujak Jain Temple, this photo captures one of the feeding times during which members of the Jain congregation get up close and personal with the local pigeon population.
Every living soul exists by virtue of an ancestor who narrowly escaped death. Someone in your family tree refused to quit during an onslaught by predators, as war raged on ceaselessly, or while clinging to the side of a cliff.
That potential now remains dormant.
This dog followed us around during our tea plantation walk in Munnar. It was a fine-looking dog with a warm disposition. It seemed quite healthy, except for the fact that it was missing its left eye.
This made me think. If you take in a blind dog, does that make you its seeing eye human?

On your visit to Kochi (Cochin) you’ll note a different mix of fauna than elsewhere in India. Urban bovines are rare, but roving flocks of goats roam the streets. Also, cats are much more prominent than in doggie-dominant Bangalore. I suspect the latter has to do with the large amounts of seafood that comes ashore here.
