Hilltop Temple [Haiku]

hilltop temple
comes into view
to a crow CAW!

The Avian Unseen [Haiku]

sunup:
roosters crow, birds chirp -
all unseen.

Resonance [Haiku]

in the temple yard,
a bell clangs three times, and
vibrates beyond silence.

Grasshoppers [Haiku]

walking in rice stalk,
grasshoppers ping forward,
plink - plink - CRUNCH - plink...

Sound & Silence [Haiku]

insects chirp
under autumn skies; the
river runs silent.

Temple Bell [Haiku]

the temple bell clangs:
heard from a distance,
it does not fade.

“Cicada’s Cry” by Matsuo Bashō [w/ Audio]

the stillness --
soaking into stones
cicada's cry

Introduction to Spellcasting [Lyric Poem]

We cast our spells by way of words --
Each sound, sacred. Its magic blurred
By mundane ways and untrained ears --
Failure to feel one's way to tears.

So, we're lost upon silent seas
Even when one could hear with ease:
Because boundless is speech's spread,
And boundless, still, within one's head.

Some seek their way to the magic
By means that are truly tragic,
When all they really need to do
Is listen as it passes through.

Spring Rain [Haiku]

sweet rain scent, &
sound of spatter on leaves, &
one drop on the face.

Water Sound [Haiku]

the sound of rain
and thundering waterfalls:
a cat sleeps soundly.
