A Close & Colorless Sea [Free Verse]

The ocean vast
 closes in.

Clouds drop.

If the horizon still exists,
 it's behind an approaching
  wall of gray.

Whatever is closing down
 the world has also
  drained it of color.

The shadows are black.
 The sea foam is white.

Everything else is
 some dim, earthy tone.

The sea may have retained
a hint of green or blue,
but it's hard to tell --
  so darkened &
  gray-infused
  are the waters.

I fear the world may shrink
to a dot, like an old timey TV
  snapped off, a dot that's
  bright white but cold.

Stormy Shore [Haiku]

waves hit rocky shore
and spout a geyser that rains
like a mini squall.

Still Eye [Haiku]

along the seashore,
 everything is in motion,
  but the crow's eye.

Autumn Shore [Haiku]

cool blue skies, &
dry grass on the hillside --
  seashore in Autumn

Summer Seas [Haiku]

summer sunlight
 sparkles on the sea;
  a boat rocks idly

Tidal Islands [Haiku]

high tide sweeps
around the beach rocks,
and then they’re islands.

The Long View [Haiku]

up on the cliff,
i see stones & sea urchins,
  unseen from the beach

Lapping Waves [Free Verse]

Gentle waves lap ashore,
 circling into each other,
  one riding over the other.

The lower sweep becomes
 another shore for the higher.

Which side wins out changes
from one wave to the next.
