Pink & Blue [Haiku]

pink blossoms -
alive against the blue sky;
one flower falls.

Non-Mutant Ninja Turtle [Haiku]

turtle on a log
looks stuck, but vanishes
in an eye blink.

Before the Fall [Haiku]

flower-laden tree:
when next we meet
will be bare.

Dust in Cracks [Haiku]

the old fort wall
is covered in plants that grow
from dust in cracks.

No Cry [Haiku in contrast to Matsuo Bashō’s experience]

back at the trailhead:
 no birds cry;
  no fish weep.

Riffing on Matsuo Bashō’s haiku:

"Departing spring!
 Birds crying;
 Tears in the eyes of fish."

Francisco de Goya Clerihew

The Madhouse (1812-19)

The work of Francisco de Goya
 shows a touch of paranoia.
  Worry of going insane
  can cause quite a strain.

Flowing & Rigid [Haiku]

roots drape over rock,
 a blind search for soil:
  flowing & rigid.

Creeping Evil [Lyric Poem]

I feel creeping evil
  from all around the rose.
 I'd thought it long since dead,
  but, oh, it grows and grows.

It was only dormant -
  just biding its time.
 Its suffocating burden
  weighs on all sound minds.

Oh, when will it reach here?
  One can never know.
 It will sneak up on us
  on silent tippy-toes.

Shallow Water [Haiku]

a shallow stream,
 texture everchanging,
  glazes the forest floor.
