the creek bed is wide,
 yet dark by dome of trees
  that stretch for light.

fall leaves will drop,
 and the winter river view
  will be unhindered.

autumn orange:
 to live most brightly
  just before the end.

saffron-tinged leaves
languidly wobble to mimic
the dance of flame

leaves are falling 
throughout the city, &
someone sweeps them up

the river dawdles;
 the colorful leaves stick
  firm & still

red leaves,
lit by the late-day sun,
flare orange

a hissing breeze
rushes through the leaves
sensed in a strong wind
then i can't not hear it
even in a trickled breeze
