 warmed by a shaft of light.

 stubble fire smoke glows like
  a Martian landscape.

Hawkweed blooms
 beside a creek that sparkles
  with summer sunlight.

Spring greenery
 catches sunlight;
  tiny birds chitter.

school of fish 
 becomes one super-fish
  in a boat's shade.

bloom-laden branch
 stretches to reach beyond 
  the shadows... but no.

Summer sunset
 glows on the wetlands,
  for a short time.

a butterfly
 plays with shape & shadow
  on a sunlit leaf.

 i look across the dark valley
