Seasons [Free Verse]

I

I remember Spring:
   tight and tender buds,
   soon to blossom

clouds -- low & swollen,
& rain scent in the air
II

I remember Summers:
   the season of freedom...

and mosquitoes,
   but, also, fireflies

exploration &
   calamine lotion
III

I remember the Fall:
   harvest time

Grain chaff in the air
   axle grease on the wind

Canadian geese
   Honk-Honk-Honk-ing
   in wedge formation
IV

I remember winters:
   snow days

snow drifts

the feel of the first morning
    of the season in which
one woke up to a blanketing snow,
    having gone to bed with
    pathetic matted grass

Summer Seas [Haiku]

summer sunlight
 sparkles on the sea;
  a boat rocks idly

Beach [Haiku]

bright beach summer.
the sand is everywhere,
and i don’t care.

Riverside [Haiku]

summer river:
dragonflies dart at the edge,
around thirsty shrubs

June Rains [Haiku]

house & garden
glisten from a soaking
of June rains

Nordic Summer [Kyōka]

nordic summer.
the wee hours look like either
sunrise or sunset
is upon us, and
either way, it's true

Summer Sky Haiku

summer sky -
the clouds echoing
boulder shapes

Summertime Haiku

sun shimmer,
flashing off the waves,
summer drifts

tall grass,
from green to tawny,
summer’s span

shady creek
between pines and pasture:
sun escape

desolate:
bare soil in clumps and clods;
sun gone mean

far thunder,
rumbling skies and rain scent:
summer storm

Sunflower Haiku

a thousand suns
shine upon my face,
one on my back

golden field
exalts the summer
while it lasts

lone flower
with stem to sun’s rays,
miffed or broken?

flower heads
twisting in unison
rapt attention

speeding by
the sunflowers blur
yet still flame
