Your life without a computer:
what does it look like?
I imagine like it does when I go on long hikes, and have no access to computer or internet. i.e. Mostly blissful with the occasional bleak thought that the world might be ending without one’s awareness.

Daily writing prompt
How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?
There are many levels to this. At one end is getting up and moving for a half hour or hour. At the other end is going for a ten-day hike in a part of the planet that has no cell service whatsoever. (Yes, such spaces still exist, but are continually getting smaller — mostly valleys of large mountain ranges.)
This is probably not as big a challenge for me as for many because I find it neither that enjoyable nor that necessary to be jacked in.

Yes, yes. We read these things called books. They hurt much worse when you dropped one on your toe (but much less than the stone tablets of the preceding generation,) but at least you wouldn’t be out $1,200 (USD) if they took a bad bounce.

As might be expected of a device that only exists to facilitate lazy, I don’t have impassioned feelings about any emoji, but I do use the “thumbs up” more than all others combined, so I guess it would be fair to say that’s it. “Thumbs up” is very versatile, and if one is being so lazy as to use an emoji for communication, one might as well go all out an add ambiguity to the mix. “Thumbs up” just says, I have some kind of feeling between indifferent and ecstatic about what you’ve just said.

How do you manage screen time for yourself?
Many ways, really: e.g. Go for a walk or otherwise move. Forget it exists. When the WiFi goes down, take it as a sign from the universe. Juggle. Do something productive.

If “most important” means having both a broad and profound societal impact, then the answer would have to be the internet. [Though I learned through said internet that Arpanet was already operating before I was born. So, if you consider the internet to be a simple progression of Arpanet, then my answer would be a lie.]
If “most important” means having the greatest benefit to mankind in terms of improved quality of life or lifespan, then it’s probably some medicine. Which one? I have no idea. [Maybe that breakthrough that both won the Nobel and made it much easier and quicker to get the COVID vaccines out (mRNA translation, or whatever it was called.)]
