bloom-laden branch
 stretches to reach beyond 
  the shadows... but no.

black tear drops hang 
 like bird nests; one opens to
  inverted bat signal.

vendors sit behind
 identical piles of fruit;
  a consumer slows...

tight bud opens: 
 imperceptible struggle
  to unpack beauty.

Summer sunset
 glows on the wetlands,
  for a short time.

branches: bloom-laden
 but devoid of leaves:
  tropic confusion.

winding like vines,
 tree branches grow like a cage
  over my head.

sun hits horizon; 
 summer ticks a day off,
  car speeds into darkness.

dense bloom clusters
 of one week are a carpet
  on the ground the next.

tardy deer hunter
 finds a deer grazing beside
  his hunter's stand.
