leaf-lined walks
in the cemetery --
autumn's elegy

each leaf bleeds red
with its own blotched pattern
in its own time

the moon ‘s an echo
of the porchlight that burns
across the yard

two parrots peck
as a chipmunk watches - 
the outsider

autumn graveyard --
one tree holds its leaves
for no one in particular

a pollen cloud 
eddies in the air
from a footfall

water rolls 
over rock rounded like
a turtle's shell

two white daisies
smile bright and strong among
the wilted purples

a red maple leaf
flutters from a tree
to adorn my coat

rock swells from sea,
a perfect perch to think on
the world's end
