the plucking of
 prickly pears is at risk 
  of being pricked

the moon rises
 above the city.
  expect lunatics!

a walk in the park.
 eyes glued to the rising sun,
  a crow dive-bombs me.

blue sky beach day.
 then rains slouch nearer,
  and blues deepen

sound in tall grass:
 it’s probably nothing.
  yet, primal fear shot

rose garden.
 last time, decapitated;
  now, in full bloom

a creature unknown
 splashes in the lotus pond —
  kerplunk! kerplunk!

the moon is up;
yet the sun is not yet down:
scheduling fail!

beached pufferfish.
better we meet 
on my turf

moon gazing.
 priests and prostitutes
  look to the same orb
