a walk in the park.
 eyes glued to the rising sun,
  a crow dive-bombs me.

a creature unknown
 splashes in the lotus pond —
  kerplunk! kerplunk!

peahen treads softly
to avoid scaring insects.
people plod around,
taking the bird's picture.
the peahen thinks, "Really!"

beached pufferfish.
better we meet 
on my turf

the turtle 
 moves slowly; i wonder
  if it sees slowly?

the spider looked thin,
 but - given its limb-span -
  that's little comfort

a false blossom,
 that crawls with wasps, hangs
  from a bare branch

the moment before
a sneaky monkey
makes mischief

the lizard
that stares skyward
makes me look

fish swim idly,
monkeys watch the fish;
monkey TV?
