  often feels suspect.

frangipani bloom 
 on a barren branch;
  turn away, it falls.

 weather cools, i'm warmed by
  autumn wildflowers.

The flawless deep green melon rind
  houses a pink, bland flesh.
The rind - pitted, yellowed, lumpy -
  hides fruit: red, sweet, & fresh.

slender, sinuous
 tongues of willow leaf
  droop at river's edge.

a tree on the shore, 
 in stony ground & briny
  water, thrives!

one shaggy branch
 cranes out over the shore,
  receives light reward
