Braided Roots [Haiku]

twisted root piles
stretch across the walkway,
reaching like amoeba.

“Trees” by Joyce Kilmer [w/ Audio]

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose busom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Camo Fail [Senryū]

the flowers hide
in tall grass & sedges,
but bees still find them.

Banyan Columns [Haiku]

banyan roots
form cathedral columns
for the inner sanctum.

The Thistle’s Moment [Haiku]

in late summer,
thistles flower brightly --
then fluff & cede to wind.

Growing in Stone [Haiku]

from old stone ruins
grow hardy weeds, raising
flowery heads skyward.

Spring Wildflowers [Haiku]

Spring wildflowers
 cluster among the rocks;
  sheep bells clang nearby.

Blossom Plights [Haiku]

yellow petals drop:
 on the lake: washed together;
  on the ground: spread out.

Flower Divas [Haiku]

flowers are rock stars:
 standing tall & proud before
  the swaying grass.
