a shaft of sunlight
sneaks past a blocking cloud:
summer sunset.

a shaft of sunlight
sneaks past a blocking cloud:
summer sunset.

bounded by city:
look up to boundless sky,
& the mind soars.

flowers dip
under a bee’s weight,
but spring back.

frogs plop in water
faster than my eye can see:
a blur — kerplunk!

a mighty river
makes the mighty city
dwarven by compare.

sun sets behind trees,
hiding a city in woodland
silhouette.

this odd little shrub
grows snails like seed pods:
or so it seems.

from lush green hills,
the city is painted
in hazy blue-gray.

cool, idyllic day:
summer rallies a last stand,
before the Fall.

hay is baled, and
the pasture is empty:
still, but for cloud drift.
