eyeing the mountain
 like it’s defeated you once,
  and may again.

the grass sways,
 while skyscrapers stand stiffly:
  so impressive, the grass!

a snake crawls 
 down out of a tree…
  i have questions.

the stream carries sand,
 dropping it in a broad pool,
  clueless of its work.

counting ears
 to learn how many cats,
  but how deep 's the pile?

a troop of langurs:
 five monkeys doing five things
  as one family.

at mangrove’s edge:
 a croc, mouth agape.
  lazy hunter?

behind the leaf, 
 a spider hides like a fat
  kid behind a pole.

the treetop leaves
 that catch early & late sun
  are the first to fall.

if your mushroom has
 an eye, it’s time to stop
  eating mushrooms.
