two stone birds
carved into a temple plinth:
still impermanent!

a cat on a ledge
peers down with rapt focus.
looking for… what?

the bunny is still,
believing itself unseen,
but those ears don't blend

Hanuman langur
stops scratching its butt
to look thoughtfully

i look at the clouds,
and notice an Orb-weaver,
seemingly floating

hornbill
does raven impression --
corner of my eye

on a dead tree,
in the cocoa-colored flood:
coveted Reishi

in the temple,
chaotic swirls of smoke
echo my mind

milky moonlight
paints all things pale --
all but the shadows

late day sunlight
fires the yellow temple top
while shadows harden
