Hover Quandary [Haiku]

a bee hovers
 between two wildflowers,
  in a quandary.

Bee’s Weight [Haiku]

flowers dip
under a bee’s weight,
but spring back.

Twins, Or: Spastic Gravity [Haiku]

twin butterflies
spiral around each other
with spastic gravity.

Mantis Moves [Haiku]

in stillness,
the mantis becomes
vegetation.

Owl? Moth? Owl-Moth [Tanka]

on a tree, the moth
looks like a pair of eyes framed
  in a hidey-hole.
 on marble steps, the moth
  just looks like a moth.

Spotless [Common Meter]

The Ladybug of my childhood
 had polka-dots of black,
  adorning the split red shell
that covered its wings and back.

So, who erased this bug's black dots
 to make it less dice-like,
making it a Lady in red?
Said thief can take a hike.

I had so many fine questions,
 but it just flew away.
Maybe a bug somewhere out there
has more spots coming its way.

Mosquito [Haiku]

inert mosquito
 awaits the motive force
  of summer sun.

Evening Brown #2 [Haiku]

at dusk,
 the long-still Evening Brown
  flutters off.

Evening Brown [Haiku]

this Evening Brown
is well-named; it’s sluggish
in the morning.

Autumn Crickets [Haiku]

distant cricket chirps:
from the next hill, I wonder?
  now, one at my feet.
