a tree’s last blossom
 seems to wait til no one
  is looking to drop.
 what a thing it must be
  to see a holdout yield.

Last Hurrah [Haiku]

late afternoon sun
 catches yellow bloom clusters:
  the day’s last hurrah.

the city din drones:
horns, jackhammers, and shouts;
listen to the flowers

frangipani blossoms
stepped over

calling bees
scent, color, and glory
unrivaled

the hillside
when rhododendrons bloom
shangri la

for two weeks
the valley flowers,
its spell cast

purple circle
rings the base of a tree
regal shadow
