So I’m a Latter-day Saint and I’ve never heard of the Mormon butterfly (Papilio polytes). I think I’m OK with both the idea of a Latter-day Saint and a butterfly in this poem—a type of dualism. It’s very intriguing.
I don’t know anything of the name origin of the butterfly, but -oddly enough- while it’s widespread across Asia, I don’t think it’s present in North America (unlike the Latter-day Saint variety of Mormon.)

Gotcha. NP. It is an interesting poem regardless.
