The world runs on petrol, but not all gas stations are alike. In rural Cambodia, where motor scooters are seconded by small  stretch rice-tiller tractors  as the primary means of conveyance, the petrol station may be a rack of soda or wine bottles or a 55 gallon drum like this one.

The artworks high in the frame demonstrate how the otherwise nondescript implements of torture were used. These were a couple of the more disturbing exhibits at Tuol Sleng Museum. Tuol Sleng was a school that the Khmer Rouge pressed into use as a prison and center of torture.

Phnom Bakhang is at Angkor. Its hilltop location makes it a popular spot for viewing the sunset. One can walk up, or ride and elephant for a fee. However, the cost to ride an elephant to the top is relatively exorbitant (one can spend a day at elephant camp for the same amount.) I’d recommend walking, and catching an elephant ride somewhere where there aren’t so many canned tourists. The walk isn’t arduous. However, if it’s your only opportunity to squeeze in an elephant ride, then what the heck.

Traveling through the old earth-tone and mossy green temple building, one comes upon a festival of color.
