Funny… It seems like the old sections of town like Oakland are holding up better than the rest of Atlanta. I’ve been down there a couple times since moving South (well more East than South, lol).
Gwinnett Place Mall is now closed down and abandoned. It used to be pretty upscale. Mall of Georgia is/was the second biggest mall on the mainland, and once made Gwinnett Place Mall look low end. It was dingy and dirty when I revisited. Parking is a mess, streets are deteriorating, and the entire North end of the Perimeter freeway and I75 leaving Atlanta is a parking lot.
I’m glad I got out of there back in 2005. Your pics have done a great job of showing there’s still beauty to be found among all the urban decay though.
