The yellow tents are a semi-permanent campsite for one of the big trekking entities. Goechala can be hiked up to and through the pass. The big mountain to climb in the area, Kanchenjunga (world’s 3rd highest peak and one of the 8,000+meter [28,000ft+]) peaks, is approached from the Nepal side (as far as I know.)
