My favorite store in Hungary. This bookstore is located at the corner of Andrássy út and Liszt Ferenc Tér in Pest.

DAILY PHOTO: Not a Good Look, Mr. Nimoy
This photo was taken on the Palace grounds in Budapest’s castle district. I’m pretty sure I took the photo because the little statuette looks a bit like Leonard Nimoy wearing jeans, a Catholic schoolgirl skirt, and a gaudy hipster medallion. I’m sure that it’s not meant to be Leonard Nimoy, but rather some prince in Hungary’s long history.

DAILY PHOTO: Esterháza
This was home to Prince Nikolaus Esterházy.
It’s located in a town called Fertőd that’s west of Budapest and southeast of Vienna. Taking a small detour, it’s on the way between Budapest and Vienna. One can team it with a trip to Sopron.
It has apparently been radically refurbished since this 17-year-old pic. They ditched the orange-yellow and toned down the monstrous bushes.
It gives one a nice little taste of lifestyles of the rich and famous–19th century style.
