POEM: Pleasure-Pain Principle Gone Awry

run to pleasure — run from pain
some call it the way to be sane
can you feel the wind in your hair?
lot of running — getting nowhere

you can’t catch happy — can’t flee sad
you’ll only find a passing fad
instead, reframe and remeasure
what is pain and what is pleasure

that’s where freedom lies
